deux quintaux trois quarts :
2 + 3 / 4
= (2 x 4) / (1 x 4) + 3 / 4
= 8 / 4 + 3 / 4
= (8 + 3) / 4
= 11 / 4

un quintalun quart :
1 + 1 / 4
= 4 / 4 + 1 / 4
= (4 + 1) / 4
= 5 / 4

11 / 4 - 5 / 4 - 7 / 10 - 2 / 5
= (11 x 5) / (4 x 5) - (5 x 5) / (4 x 5) - (7 x 2) / (10 x 2) - (2 x 4) / (5 x 4) 
= 55 / 20 - 25 / 20 - 14 / 20 - 8 / 20
= (55 - 25 - 14 - 8) / 20
= 8 / 20
= (8 / 4) / (20 / 4)
= 2 / 5

Donc il reste au jardinier plus que 2 / 5 de sa récolte de pommes.
